University can be harsh, and it can sometimes (just kidding, all the time) feel like it sucks the soul out of your body. But you tell yourself that the pain you are feeling is temporary, and the grades you receive and the GPA you end up with, are forever. You may lose all social interactions and give up your hobbies and things you’re interested in as you invest more of your time into your studies. This could bring your grades up, but do you really want to give up what you’re passionate about just for the sake of your studies? Of course not! I make YouTube videos along with my studies, among many other things I’m passionate about, so I’m here to give you two for-sure tips and tricks to manage your studies without giving up on your hobbies!
1. Time is money
You may have heard the phrase “Time is money”, this is 100% true. You need to be able to manage your time and prioritize what is important. Obviously, this is going to be your studies, but by prioritizing your studies, you will make time for yourself to do other things - in this case, your hobbies.
If you were to review your notes after your classes, you will have time at night to do a few things you would like to enjoy. If you were reviewing your notes everyday and not cramming your studies, you would only be really worrying about concepts that you didn’t completely understand. This gives you more time for a breather, knowing that you really only have to review the concepts one more time since you have been keeping up with all your studies. The extra breathing room allows you to explore your hobbies and invest time into other things.
2. Allotted times for studying
Sometimes you might review after class but fail to understand anything you went over. You just blank at the sight of opening your notes. This is mostly due to the anxiety and stress you feel at that moment. This is because you are mindlessly writing things down like a zombie. Never be a zombie! A good way to set yourself up to finish on time is by setting an allotted time for each study session. Throw away your distractions and try to finish what you need to within the time you have allotted for yourself. Once you have done this, you can reward yourself by doing something that interests you afterwards. It’s something like the light at the end of the tunnel. Was that a good analogy?
If you are able to do these two tips, then you will have all the time in the world to study, as well as pursue your hobbies, whatever it may be. I hope you learned something informative from this post!
Till next time, don’t procrastinate!
